Platform and testing launches rounded out the segment. Yeastar introduced NovoOne, an AI-native, Kubernetes-based multi-tenant communications platform for MSPs, ITSPs and carriers, Oscilloquartz and Iridium expanded their collaboration on resilient positioning, navigation and timing for critical infrastructure, and VIAVI unveiled the CyberFlood CF50, a compact platform for 100G application, security and AI inference testing with native post-quantum cryptography support. Together, these launches show OSS/BSS and test vendors preparing operators for AI-native, multi-party service delivery.
Etisalat launched a strategic project to lift UAE international connectivity to more than 500 Tbps by 2030, a twenty-five-fold increase meant to support AI demand. Kyndryl’s first global Modernization Report, based on a survey of 2,000 leaders, shows AI driving more mainframe, edge and network upgrades, with agentic AI accelerating results for early adopters. Modernization is increasingly a board-level decision, and agentic AI is emerging as the lever that helps organizations catch up on schedules slowed by complexity.
Consolidation continued across satellite, fiber and communications. Iridium stockholders overwhelmingly approved Rocket Lab’s acquisition, with nearly 99.6% of votes in favor at $27 in cash and Rocket Lab stock per share. AI infrastructure spending drove the rest of the deals. Akamai announced an $11.6 billion, seven-year cloud agreement with Anthropic that could grow by $9 billion, and Dell’Oro Group reported that the data center physical infrastructure market grew 27% year over year to $14 billion in 2Q 2026, with siting and permitting now the biggest near-term risk. Submer’s new company Corenix debuted to deliver modular AI data center platforms, 3C and Datalec merged to form 3C Datalec to build and operate liquid-cooled AI facilities, and Ericsson is relocating its global R&D headquarters for AI-enabled and autonomous network software to Athlone, Ireland. In New Mexico, Oracle proposed an energy service agreement with El Paso Electric that would deliver $155 million in utility cost offsets for Project Jupiter, and updated its analysis to project a $13 billion economic impact over construction and 17 years of operations.
Research and contract news rounded out the month. Juniper Research forecasts global retail roaming revenue will fall from $15.6 billion in 2026 to $11.3 billion by 2031 as travel eSIMs spread, CTIA found that 5G Home competition cut cable prices by 17%, saving remaining subscribers about $11 a month, and Ribbon is helping the MTA move from legacy TDM PBX to SIP-based services across North America’s largest transportation network. Overall, the month’s market activity shows capital flowing toward AI infrastructure, satellite-linked services and scaled fiber platforms, while legacy product lines and networks continue to be reshaped through divestitures and modernization.
