Video Quality of Experience

The key to generating real revenues from video is to ensure they are always presented in the highest quality...

Bulgarian Operator Mobitel, part of the Telekom Austria Group, is taking video management very seriously and recently tapped IneoQuest Technologies, a video analytics and service assurance specialist to provide them with an end-to-end video management solution across their entire IPTV network.

“By deploying the IneoQuest solution, we will have complete visibility into the delivered video service quality throughout the entire distribution network,” says Daniel Todorov, Head of Sector IPTV, MobilTel Bulgaria. “This will enable us to be more proactive and improve efficiency in our service operations and customer care.”

IneoQuest’s video management system will allow MobilTel to centrally track the health status of all their video services across their network to provide true end-to-end video quality management.

“Maintaining the integrity of the subscriber’s viewing experience is still a significant challenge operators face and IneoQuest’s solution is critical to achieving the QoS and QoE operators are looking for,” says Calvin Harrison, COO of IneoQuest. “With our partner Optonia, we are excited to have been selected by MobilTel for our video analytics and service assurance solution and look forward to providing the company with the data intelligence needed to better manage their video network and improve the subscriber viewing experience.”

Operators are facing a future dominated by the transmission and consumption of online videos from every direction. The key to generating real revenues from video is to ensure they are always presented in the highest quality, lest they disappoint and drive away your most sensitive—and profitable—customers.

“Customers have far less patience to wait for buffers to build or for stalls during video playback,” Procera's Cullen adds. “They also have higher expectations (especially on fixed networks) that they will see high resolution video by default than they used to have. For streaming services like Netflix, consumers believe that since they have paid for a high bandwidth connection as well as the OTT service, that they will not see stalls and failures when attempting to view videos.”

The meltdown of traditional video distribution models have left generations of consumers looking for an equally reliable and infinitely more flexible and mobile replacement. Only the highest quality video experience can do that. With smart investment and a strategy focused on gathering critical user data to differentiate services and deliver video right, the first time and all the time, operators can capitalize on the trend.
