CX News

In the world of CX news, Deutsche Telekom is accelerating digitalization by creating a new business area for end-to-end digital solutions and platforms in the growth market for digital experience services.

Palo Alto Networks announced a commitment with Zoom Video Communications to create joint solutions that will enable an exceptional user experience for their mutual customers and help companies simplify and secure hybrid work. In addition, Cisco announced new features and capabilities for the reimagined Webex Customer Experience (CX) portfolio that delivers a fully integrated collaboration, cloud contact center and cloud communications platform for better CX. 

Allot announced that Verizon has selected Allot NetworkSecure to provide network-based cybersecurity protection to segments of the company’s wireless and fixed wireless small and medium business and IoT customers to defend them against a broad range of cyber threats. Orange Cyberdefense launched its annual security research report, the Security Navigator 2023. This year’s in-depth analysis examined 99,506 potential incidents that were investigated and triaged by CyberSOC teams, an increase of five percent from the 2021 report.

5G, Mobile, and Network News

Nokia has completed a successful field trial of C and L band WDM optical line system with Philippine mobile operator Globe Telecom. The trial demonstrated operation of Nokia's innovative PSEVs chipset transmitting a 600Gbs channel in the C band and a 400Gbs channel in the L band on Globe's live optical network. Nokia also announced that it will lead the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s KOMSENS-6G project. The project aims to drive global pre-standardization activities from a German and European perspective, with a specific focus on the network as a sensor technology.

SOLiD has selected Picocom to power its next-generation 5G Open RAN Radio Units (O-Rus). Meanwhile, TELUS Corporation and TELUS International reached a definitive agreement to acquire WillowTree, a premier, full-service digital product provider focused on end-user experiences, such as native mobile applications and unified web interfaces.

Akoustis Technologies announced that it has joined the Wi-Fi NOW industry association as an Official RF Filter Partner, alongside major thought leaders including Cisco, Eero, Linksys, Intel, Netgear, and many more.

Deutsche Telekom tested a high-frequency range at 6 GHz and concluded that the very high frequencies compared to current bands are ideally suited for mobile communications and could significantly increase bandwidth and data speeds for the 5G mobile communications.

Cloud News

The cloud-based dynamic spectrum sharing solutions company Federated Wireless has been conditionally approved as an Automated Frequency Coordination system operator by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. Also, Swisscom and Netcracker have extended their relationship as Netcracker makes an investment toward a public cloud-based OSS.

Nexign launched a new OSS solution to centralize the collection and transformation of network data. Nexign Mediation represents a low-code platform that aggregates data from various network equipment and other sources. It lets communications service providers increase the security, speed, and flexibility of collecting and analyzing data streams for further use in billing and analytics.

Cerillion announced the launch of Cerillion 22.2, the latest release of its pre-integrated BSS/OSS suite, which helps communications services providers to capitalize on the opportunities created by the structural separation of network operator from service provider.

Vodafone has begun deploying new disaggregated cell site gateway routers to cost-effectively upgrade 4G cell sites to 5G and bring new ones online. The routers are the essential link between a mobile site and the core network, which connects customers to the Internet.

Regulatory News

In regulatory news, the Federal Communications Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel issued a statement on the FCC’s Communications Equity and Diversity Council report. Furthermore, the Open-IX Association, expanded its reach to Africa, certifying three of the largest African based Internet Exchange Points have obtained OIX-1 certification through the Association’s global Internet Exchange certification program.

Members of NTCA and the Rural Broadband Association received over $400 million in loans and grants for broadband deployment through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s latest distribution of ReConnect Program funding. The funding will support service to over 73,000 people, nearly 2,000 businesses, over 5,500 farms and 122 schools.
