Ribbon Modernizes MTA Critical Infrastructure in North AmericaRibbon Achieves Critical Infrastructure Modernization Milestone Across North America’s Largest Transportation NetworkPaves the way for a next-generation network without compromising operational continuityRibbon (RBBN) Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: RBBN), a global leader in real-time communications technology, IP routing, and optical networking solutions, is expanding its longstanding relationship with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), whose New York City Transit subway, bus and paratransit services alone accounted for nearly 1.9 billion trips in 2025. This latest phase advances the MTA’s efforts to modernize communications across North America’s largest transportation network with a more flexible environment. The MTA is already leveraging Ribbon’s C20 Call Controller and Application Server as its communications backbone, providing a centralized platform that connects and distributes voice services to approximately 70,000 employees across the organization. The expanded deployment adds Ribbon’s G5 Media Gateway and Professional Services, while replacing the MTA’s legacy contact center infrastructure with a new solution from NUSO. Together, these solutions enable a seamless transition from legacy TDM PBX environments to SIP-based services while preserving existing analog investments, maintaining operational continuity and gaining improved efficiency and service delivery. “We’re proud to support the MTA with a modernization strategy that maintains operational continuity while delivering the reliability, flexibility, efficiency and future readiness it requires,” said Dave Hogan, SVP Enterprise Sales, Ribbon. “This is an important milestone in our journey together, and we look forward to continuing to advance the MTA’s modernization efforts.” Source: Ribbon media announcement | |
