Oracle Says Project Jupiter will Give $13B Economic Boost to NMProject Jupiter is Expected to Generate more than $13 Billion in Economic Impact for New MexicoUpdated analysis finds the data center campus is projected to support more than 3,100 direct, indirect, and induced jobs for the county once fully operationalOracle (ORCL) announced that Project Jupiter is projected to drive more than $13 billion in economic impact in New Mexico during construction and the first 17 years of full operations, based on data from Oracle and STACK and updated analysis by Mangum Economics. Oracle released this data as an update to the economic impact report it announced in July. The July announcement was based on data developed by Mangum Economics in September of 2025, calculated using Project Jupiter’s required job count of 750, versus the 1,500 long-term project supported jobs expected. The prior report also assumed less IT capacity per square foot and did not account for the larger capital investment being made into Project Jupiter’s cleaner fuel cell power plan, announced in April 2026. Project Jupiter has not made any change in scope to the data center’s capacity, buildings, water use, or power plan beyond Oracle’s April 2026 power plan update. The more than $13 billion figure was calculated using annual estimates of the total projected economic output during construction from 2025 through 2028 and the direct impacts of the first 17 years of full operations. Once fully operational, Project Jupiter is projected to support approximately $560 million in direct economic output in Doña Ana County each year. This figure does not include the more than 1,600 indirect and induced jobs expected to be created by local suppliers, contractors, service providers, and employee spending. All dollar estimates in the analysis are in 2026 dollars. “A project of this scale creates opportunities that last well beyond construction, and that’s part of the reason why we are excited to bring this project to Doña Ana County,” said Mahesh Thiagarajan, executive vice president, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. “Project Jupiter is putting skilled New Mexicans to work building the campus. This updated analysis shows the full economic impact the project will create for the county, including 1,600 additional jobs expected at local businesses, thousands of lasting careers, and billions in economic activity in the region for years to come.” The project is already an economic engine for the county. To date, 1,230 New Mexico residents—including 630 from Doña Ana County—have worked on Project Jupiter. Across the trades, more than 1,846 union members have contributed to the project, and 4,393 workers have completed more than 3.75 million labor hours. For many of those workers, the project has made it possible to stay local instead of traveling out of the county or the state to remain employed. “One of the best things about this project is that we’ve been able to bring a lot of our people back home,” said Rosendo Najar, president of Carpenters Local 1319 and lead business agent for New Mexico. “Now that we have this project here, we’re able to bring back people who live in this area.” Creating Opportunity Today and for the Long TermDuring construction, Project Jupiter is projected to generate up to $2.2 billion in total economic output in Doña Ana County. At the peak of construction, the project is projected to create 7,000 construction jobs and support nearly 1,650 indirect and induced jobs across the county. Once the four-building campus is fully operational, Project Jupiter’s estimated impact will include:
Beyond its direct operational workforce, Project Jupiter is expected to have a positive impact on job creation in business services such as banking, insurance, and maintenance, as well as jobs in restaurants, retail, hospitality, and other local businesses supported by workers’ spending. Commitment to the CommunityProject Jupiter’s projected long-term contribution builds on benefits already being delivered in Doña Ana County and across New Mexico. To date, the project has generated more than $100 million in state and local tax revenue, including $50 million for local water infrastructure. Project Jupiter’s commitments also include $360 million to support schools, infrastructure, and public services; $6.9 million for workforce development and community programs; and additional investments to support local organizations including the Gadsden Independent School District, Casa de Peregrinos, and Roadrunner Food Bank. Project Jupiter has committed $4 million to local workforce development and education and prioritizes local hiring, training, and upskilling. To date, 1,230 New Mexico residents have worked onsite to build the campus. Beginning in 2027, Oracle’s paid 12-week Catalyst Program will help future workers prepare for a career in data center technology. The program requires no college degree or prior data center experience and offers successful participants the opportunity to transition into full-time Oracle roles.
