deployment is a first in New York and enables Greenlight Networks to bring some of the fastest broadband speeds to the region.

Greenlight's deployment of Nokia's XGS-PON solution reflects its commitment to continually develop the capabilities and speed of its network and is an important step towards extending new ultra-broadband services such as streaming video in 8k and 12k as well as keeping up with the increase of internet-aware devices in the home. It also provides a cost-effective upgrade path for its existing fiber network, which covers multiple municipalities in the Greater Rochester area, allowing Greenlight to seamlessly move from GPON (2.5Gbps) to XGS-PON (10Gbps) using the same access node.

Mark Murphy, CEO at Greenlight Networks said: "Greenlight is constantly looking at ways we can deliver new services that fit every customer need.  We pride ourselves on offering the fastest internet speeds available in the markets we serve and Nokia's XGS-PON technology will play a critical part in our ability to deliver these services to our customers.  With Nokia's next-generation PON fiber solution we will be able to deliver the latest technologies, applications, products and services quickly and reliably to our customers and ensure they have access to the ultra-broadband speeds and capacity they require now and in the future."

Federico Guillen, president of Nokia Fixed Networks business group, said: "We are pleased to be working with Greenlight to ensure they have the tools, resources and expertise they need to deliver better, faster and smarter ultra-broadband access to customers in New York. As demand for Gigabit and symmetrical services grows, next-generation fiber technologies like XGS-PON play a critical role in delivering and supporting the enhanced ultra-broadband services customers require today and in the future."
