Fortinet Unveils New Calgary Cybersecurity Innovation Hub

The Fortinet-owned building features a cloud point of presence, a customer briefing centre, a training facility, and a cybersecurity community hub to enhance customer and partner experience, drive innovation, and support organisations across Canada and worldwide

Fortinet(NASDAQ: FTNT), the global cybersecurity leader driving the convergence of networking and security, unveiled its cutting-edge cybersecurity Innovation Hub in downtown Calgary, Alberta. The new facility reinforces Fortinet’s long-term investment in Canada and reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening cyber resilience and advancing cybersecurity innovation, education, and customer engagement.

Having a dedicated, company-owned space in Alberta will enable closer collaboration with customers and partners across the province, providing a modern environment designed for innovation and future growth. The launch of our customer experience centre as part of our Innovation Hub further strengthens this by giving customers direct, hands-on access to our technology and expertise. Together, these investments demonstrate our long-term commitment to Canada and our focus on delivering real, tangible value to the organisations we support.

With the support of the Government of Alberta, Invest Alberta, and Calgary Economic Development, Calgary was selected as a strategic location for the facility. It will help meet the growing demand for expertise in protecting critical infrastructure and operational technology. The hub builds on Fortinet’s 26-year presence in Canada and joins the company’s established campuses in Burnaby, British Columbia, and Ottawa, Ontario.

Representing a USD $30 million investment, Fortinet’s eight-story, 122,000-square-foot Calgary cybersecurity hub, acquired in September 2024, supports the Fortinet Cloud point of presence (PoP) strategy. In addition, Fortinet’s workforce growth in Alberta underscores the province’s importance as a hub for cybersecurity talent and innovation.

The Calgary Innovation Hub brings together several purpose-built spaces, including:

• Fortinet Cloud PoP: Powered by Fortinet appliances and enhanced by proprietary ASIC technology for higher performance, improved energy efficiency, and lower costs, the company’s latest PoP will expand its global cloud footprint. This will enable the company to better meet its customers' needs by delivering services, SaaS products, and SASE that provide superior user experience while supporting a strong security posture, significant cost savings, and local regulations and data sovereignty needs.
• Cybersecurity community hub: The cybersecurity community hub features a dedicated lab for demonstrating and validating security solutions designed to help protect critical infrastructure organisations from evolving cyberthreats. It also serves as a resource for Fortinet partners, offering meeting facilities and flexible workspace to support customer engagement and business development in downtown Calgary.
• Customer experience centre: The customer experience centre brings together customers, partners, and industry leaders to engage with Fortinet experts, explore cybersecurity innovations, and discuss strategies for strengthening security and resilience.
• Cybersecurity training facility: Supporting Fortinet’s commitment to helping close the cybersecurity skills gap, the new building provides space for hands-on cybersecurity education, designed to upskill the cybersecurity workforce and expand cybersecurity awareness, fueling innovation in Calgary and beyond.  

As part of Fortinet’s corporate social responsibility and its commitment to Alberta’s talent development, the company is also announcing the new annual Fortinet Award in Computer Science and Engineering with the University of Calgary. Based on academic merit, the awarded student will receive a USD $3,000 scholarship for five years. Through this award, Fortinet supports students pursuing studies in computer science, data science, computer engineering, and software engineering, helping local talent build meaningful careers and contribute to Alberta’s technology sector.
