Ericsson and Beyon mark sustainability milestones with extended collaboration 

Beyon and Ericsson (ERIC) extend sustainability Memorandum of Understanding to build on achievements and accelerate further environmental progress

The collaboration has delivered measurable gains in energy efficiency and circularity, including recycling 54 metric tons of e-waste through Ericsson’s E-Waste program.

Building on the progress achieved over the past two years, Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Beyon have extended their sustainability Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reinforcing their commitment to further advance energy efficiency, carbon emission reduction and circular economy practices.

Under the extended MoU, the companies will explore further opportunities to improve network energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions through innovative technologies and solutions, including zero-footprint site. The collaboration will also continue Ericsson’s E-Waste Programme, expand sustainability knowledge sharing through workshops and expert-led sessions, and identify new opportunities for social impact collaboration.

Since the start of the collaboration, Beyon and Ericsson have worked together to advance more sustainable network operations through a combination of technology innovation, circularity initiatives and knowledge sharing.

Early in the collaboration, Batelco by Beyon’s network achieved measurable improvements in energy efficiency, including up to a 30 per cent reduction in energy consumption through Ericsson's  5G Radio Access Network product, Radio 6646, up to 22 per cent additional savings enabled by AI-driven software features, and a further 18 per cent reduction through the deployment of the single-antenna footprint Interleaved AIR 3218.

Building on these achievements, the collaboration has continued to focus on accelerating sustainability through the responsible recycling of 54 metric tons of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment under Ericsson's E-Waste Program.

Alongside these environmental achievements, Beyon team members have participated in ongoing sustainability knowledge-sharing sessions led by Ericsson’s global experts, strengthening internal capabilities and awareness of international sustainability practices.
