Digital Realty DE-CIX Double US Interconnection Footprint

Expanded DE-CIX and Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR) partnership nearly doubles joint footprint in the US, expanding access to interconnection services in four markets

Collaboration extends access in Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Phoenix and enables customers at an additional 22 Digital Realty facilities to connect to the DE-CIX ecosystem.

DE-CIX, the world’s leading Internet Exchange (IX) operator, is expanding its collaboration with Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR), a leading global provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral data center colocation solutions, in the United States. Customers at 22 additional Digital Realty facilities across Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Phoenix will be able to access DE-CIX services through Digital Realty’s Metro Connect service. The collaboration extends the reach of DE-CIX’s interconnection platforms to all Digital Realty data centers within each metro market, nearly doubling the companies’ joint footprint in the US and expanding the global footprint by 25%.

The offering makes it easier for networks and enterprises to access DE-CIX services, including peering, cloud and AI connectivity, and private interconnection, in order to improve performance, strengthen resilience, and manage connectivity costs. It also strengthens the connectivity ecosystem available across Digital Realty’s participating North American campuses and extends DE-CIX’s reach to a broader community of networks, enterprises, cloud providers and digital infrastructure operators in four of the country’s most important interconnection markets.

“In the age of AI inference and cloud-based business models, digital infrastructure is becoming increasingly distributed, making simple and reliable connectivity between data centers, networks, clouds, and applications more important than ever,” said Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX. “Through the expansion of our decades-long and valued collaboration with Digital Realty, the DE-CIX ecosystem is now within easy reach for customers at dozens of facilities across the most important markets in North America. Customers gain more choice over where they deploy their infrastructure and a straightforward way to access the interconnection services they need.”

“Connectivity is what makes distributed infrastructure work. By expanding our collaboration with DE-CIX across Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Phoenix, customers at every Digital Realty data center in those metros can reach the DE-CIX ecosystem through Metro Connect — with the flexibility, choice and neutrality they expect from our platform,” said Chris Sharp, Chief Technology Officer, Digital Realty.

The announcement builds on a long-standing partnership between Digital Realty and DE-CIX that spans more than two decades and extends across 16 metros in 11 countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Together, the two companies aim to simplify access to peering, widen participation in the ecosystem and give customers more choice in how they connect.
