Bell Cyber and Cohere deploy sovereign AI for Canadian cybersecurity operations

Domain-specific cybersecurity model built using Cohere's secure enterprise AI technology and Bell Cyber expertise is running in Canada on Bell AI Fabric.

Bell Canada (NYSE: BCE) (TSX: BCE) (NYSE: BCE) and Cohere, the world's leading sovereign AI company, today announced the deployment of a domain-specific cybersecurity AI model within Bell Cyber's security operations at the Bell Cybersecurity Summit in Toronto. Built using Cohere's secure enterprise AI technology and Bell Cyber's cybersecurity data and expertise, the large language model (LLM) is designed to accelerate threat investigations and equip analysts with more relevant, consistent analysis.

This customized model is trained for cybersecurity use cases using Bell Cyber data and operational knowledge and is being integrated into Bell Cyber's Autonomous Security Operations Centre (ASOC). It is designed to analyze and summarize complex security information, surface the context most relevant to an investigation, and support standardized investigative workflows. This reduces the time analysts spend gathering and interpreting information, allowing them to focus on validating threats, determining impact and directing the response.

The model is now running in production on Bell AI Fabric infrastructure, with AI processing and sensitive security information remaining within a Canadian-hosted environment. This architecture gives Bell Cyber greater control over the model, data and operations supporting the service, adding a sovereign AI capability to its ASOC for Canadian businesses and public sector organizations. The deployment also marks the first customer-facing solution developed through Bell and Cohere's strategic AI collaboration.

Security operations teams must assess large volumes of alerts and data from across endpoints, identities, networks and cloud environments. Bell Cyber's ASOC uses AI and automation to detect, triage and contain threats at machine speed. The new model extends that capability by applying enterprise AI grounded in Bell Cyber's domain knowledge to the language, evidence and workflows used in investigations, while keeping analysts in control of consequential decisions.
