Akeyless Secures FedRAMP Cert for Agentic AI Security

Akeyless Achieves FedRAMP Class D (High) Certification to Bring Modern Identity Security and AI Agent Safeguards to Federal Agencies

FedRAMP Certification through Second Front Systems gives federal agencies a validated path to protect sensitive systems and data amid the shift toward machine and AI-driven access.

Akeyless, a leading provider of Runtime Identity Security for AI agents, machines, and humans, announced that the Akeyless Identity Security Platform has achieved FedRAMP® Class D (High) Certification through its partnership with Second Front Systems (2F). The certification gives U.S. government agencies and all organizations operating under FedRAMP Class D equivalency a validated path to adopt Akeyless for securing credentials and machine identities, and governing AI-agent access to information systems and sensitive data. Akeyless is already trusted by Fortune 500 enterprises, protecting 1 billion identity interactions a day across machines, applications, and emerging AI workloads. FedRAMP makes that proven identity security solution available to federal environments, including purpose-built AI agent safeguards to prevent credential abuse and stop rogue or unauthorized behavior.

FedRAMP Class D is the highest Certification Class for cloud services handling the U.S. government's most sensitive unclassified data. The Akeyless platform has successfully completed the full FedRAMP certification process and is now available on the FedRAMP Marketplace under the 2F Game Warden listing. The certification also positions Akeyless to pursue GovRAMP certification through its Fast Track program, which lets providers reuse their FedRAMP documentation and audit to serve U.S. state, local, and tribal governments, and education organizations.

"Federal agencies more than doubled their use of AI year over year, and are continuing to expand their AI capabilities," said Oded Hareven, CEO and Co-Founder of Akeyless. "As AI moves deeper into government systems, identity security can no longer stop at authentication. Agencies need to control both access and what autonomous systems are allowed to do after access is granted. FedRAMP Certification makes Akeyless available for sensitive federal environments so agencies can embrace AI without trading away control, auditability, or resilience."

That rapid growth is adding pressure to an already complex identity security environment, as machine identities and autonomous agents gain greater access to sensitive systems and data. At the same time, shorter certificate lifecycles, including the move toward 47-day publicly trusted TLS certificates, are increasing the operational burden on security teams. These pressures are making stronger, more automated controls increasingly critical.

Akeyless helps agencies respond with a unified identity security platform spanning secrets management, certificate lifecycle management and PKI, workload identity management, privileged access, and encryption key management. Akeyless SecretlessAI® keeps credentials out of agents' hands with short-lived, just-in-time access, while Agentic Runtime Authority controls what agents can do at runtime and blocks unauthorized actions before they can execute. Every action is tied to its originating request, giving agencies the audit trail federal oversight requires. Akeyless also automates certificate discovery, issuance, renewal, deployment, and revocation, helping agencies adapt to shorter certificate lifecycles without multiplying manual work.

Akeyless's partnership with Second Front was instrumental in achieving FedRAMP Class D (High) Certification. Akeyless leveraged 2F Game Warden, a pre-accredited DevSecOps platform designed to accelerate the deployment of commercial software into government environments while providing inherited security controls and continuous monitoring.

"With FedRAMP Class D Certification through 2F Game Warden, Akeyless can bring specialized identity security to the agencies that need it—fast and securely," said Nick Woodruff, General Manager, North America at Second Front Systems. "Our core purpose is to get proven technology to the mission faster and help our partner companies grow alongside the agencies they serve, and we know that access to Akeyless capabilities is going to be hugely impactful for the Federal Government."
