Object Management Group® (OMG) issued a Request for Information (RFI)  on Cyber Security

The Object Management Group® (OMG®) issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input from a variety of companies and organizations about their requirements, standards, and products related to security services. This initiates an effort to create OMG compliant models and interface standards to be used on independent platforms.

The Cyber Security Protection for Front Line Real-Time Systems RFI is open for response until November 7, 2016. I invite and encourage you to respond to this RFI, or share the information as appropriate within your organization.

Additionally, an OMG Live Webinar will be hosted on October 18th at 11:00 ET, by Ron Townsen, Sr. Lead Engineer, General Dynamics and Co-Chair of the OMG C4I Task Force, along with Andrew Watson, OMG Vice President and Technical Director to discuss the issues and the RFI.

We hope you’ll consider taking the necessary action to get involved or learn more. We value your and your team’s time and willingness to share your insights, so please pass onto the appropriate party(ies) in your agency. There are no membership requirements or fees to attend the webinar or respond to the RFI. Your response assists in directing OMG efforts to create standards that will ultimately save time, money and solve security issues your agency or company needs for tomorrow. OMG will be bringing together Government, Industry and Academia to create this new standard.

This RFI has been issued by the OMG’s C4I DTF; Consultation, Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence (C4I) Domain Task Force (DTF). The C4I DTF operates under the Domain Technology Committee and is focused on systems that support crisis response operations, emergency management, public safety, and military operations. Such systems are commonly known as C4I systems and are taken to include surveillance and reconnaissance together with sustaining disciplines (such as logistics, weather, air traffic control, etc.).
