Feats Unimagined

Like any other industry, telecom is all about seeking out, securing, and channeling new opportunities for the sake of progress, innovation, and, of course, profit.  Not every frontier is hospitable, and not every quarry attainable, but without any risk of failure, advances would be impossible.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  Right?

Well, good thing that sense of creative ambition and the pioneering spirit have trickled into the telecom world, because it is a jungle out there.  In order to avoid cataclysm (or, at least a relegation to the realm of the also-ran), service providers and vendors alike have got to stay sharp.  Where is the business?  How can you turn potential into reality?  How much is it going to cost us?  Wait, with HOW many zeroes?  At the crux of every issue, there must be some core considerations about what services are necessary, and how to charge for those services.  Who’s going to pay?  What are they willing to pay?  In many ways, previous conventions have been only a perpetuation of time-tested methods, only continued because no one had ever thought to question them.  What billing model best fits a given service?  Is there a universal skeleton key to proactive billing?  What lies ahead as telecom ventures into new markets?  Many of these answers lie within this issue of Pipeline.

"Well, good thing that sense of creative ambition and the pioneering spirit have trickled into the telecom world, because it is a jungle out there. "

Take a look at the new challenges associated with billing and how they can be met as expectations grow and change.  Explore the possibilities of new markets in the growing AsiaPac region.  Check out some highlights of the first annual Globalcomm 2006.  In this particular context, all that you venture is time and attention, and you may gain a little insight. And who couldn’t use a little insight?

Happy Trails,
